South Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame
Marlon Anderson lettered in baseball at South Alabama from 1993-95. He was a two-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection (1994 and 1995) and was named to the SBC’s 30-Year Anniversary Team. He enjoyed his best year in 1995, when her was tabbed All-America by Baseball America, Colligate Baseball and Supersmith. A native of Prattville, he was named Sun Belt Conference Player-of-the-Year and all-conference honors. He was a member of two NCAA Regional teams (1993 and 1995). Statistically, he ranks among the all-time career leaders in hits (218), stolen bases (69) and doubles (33), while also compiling 23 home runs and 115 runs battled in. He also holds a career battling average of .352. Following his junior year, he was drafted in the second round by the Philadelphia Phillies, and made the major league in 1998.
