South Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame
A native of Baton Rouge, La., Keturah Carter lettered for the Jaguars for four seasons from 1988-91. She received numerous awards and post-season honors while attending South Alabama, including being named to the all-Sun Belt second team each of her four seasons at USA.
During her senior season, she finished ranked 11th nationally in kills (619) and led the Sun Belt Conference in both kills (4.69) and digs average per game.
Carter led the Jaguars three out of her four seasons in kills, service aces, service percentage and digs per game, including her freshman year where she led the team in all but one category.
Carter finished her career as the program’s career kills leader (1,878), and averaged 3.50 kills per set with a .267 career hitting percentage. Carter also recorded 1,509 digs for her Jaguar career and averaged 3.20 digs per set.
Carter also left South holding the career marks in solo blocks (223) and total blocks (440).
During the 1989 season, Carter recorded three triple-doubles, posting 27 kills, 35 digs, 15 blocks, vs. Alabama (10/14), 17 kills, 11 digs, 12 blocks, vs. Samford (10/13), and 13 kills, 21 digs, 16 blocks, vs. Southern Mississippi (10/10).
During the 2007 season, Carter was one of two Jaguars selected to the SBC 30-Year Anniversary Team. She earned first-team all-league honors as a junior, was a two-time, second-team selection (1988, ‘90), and earned honorable mention honors as a freshman during the 1987 campaign.
