SOUTH ALABAMA ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
The Hall of Fame alcove, which pays tribute to each South Alabama Athletics Hall of Fame inductees, is the centerpiece of the North Lobby on the upper concourse of the Mitchell Center and is part of the Athletic Department's Hall of Champions.
HALL OF FAME COUNCIL
• Council shall not be less then 12 or exceed 20
• Council memberships are four-year rotating terms or until election called and are filled by alumni, faculty, administration, coaches and friends
• Officers are Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary-Treasurer
• Chair and Vice Chair term is two years or until a call for election
• Nominating Committee consists of officers, Athletic Director and two members elected by council
• Quorum is 1/2 of members plus one
• Vice Chair serves as chair of Nominating Committee
• Nominating Committee brings no more than 10 to council

QUALIFICATIONS OF NOMINEES
The Hall of Fame Award is made to individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the University of South Alabama in inter-collegiate athletics and is limited to student athletes and coaches and officials of the Athletic Department. Also nominees will have exhibited other qualifications of recognized distinction to be worthy of the Award. Character and reputation of the individual are important considerations. Other qualifications are:
• Last University enrollment as a student athlete five years prior to consideration as a nominee.
• Attended the University of South Alabama a minimum of one year or was employed for a minimum of five years.
• In good standing with the University at the time of consideration for induction.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The Nominating Committee consists of the members of the Executive Committee and two members of the Council appointed by the Chair. The specific responsibilities of the Nominating Committee are:
• To invite nominations from former student-athletes, faculty, administration, members of the media and members of the team support organizations.
• To receive all nominees for Awards.
• To investigate and insure the qualifications of all nominees.
• To construct a master list of all nominees and bring to no more than 10 candidates to the full council for consideration.

SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS
The names selected from the master list are submitted to the Council for voting. No more than five nominees will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in a given year. A preferential vote will be taken and scored on a cross-country basis. The nominees approved for a given year receiving the lowest total are then elected.
PRESENTATION OF THE AWARD
The inductees will be announced by the Secretary-Treasurer with written notification by the Chair and an appropriate ceremony for the presentation purposes will be held. Each inductee will receive an appropriate memento of the honor. The inductee must be present at the ceremony in order to be inducted. If a candidate for induction is selected, but is unable to attend, the induction shall be delayed until attendance is possible. In the case of a deceased inductee, a member of the family must be present to receive the honor.
