South Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame
Originally a native of Miami, Fla., Marilyn Lubel initiated South Alabama’s first women’s tennis program in 1975… She served as head coach through 1980 compiling a 60-32 record over that span… She took the initiative again in 1979 when, along with husband, William she began a program to construct Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Complex on campus… The eight-court lighted complex was completed in the spring of 1980… In 1981, Lubel became the associate tennis coach for the men’s and women’s tennis programs. Through he first ten seasons as associate tennis coach, the Jaguars claimed five Sun Belt Conference men’s titles and four women’s titles. During the same span, the Jags were women’s runner-up four times and men’s runner-up once.
