A Native of Birmingham, Ala., Mordecai is one of the all-time greats to play at South Alabama. In his three years, he led USA to one Sun Belt title and two NCAA Tournament appearances, including the regional championship in 1987… Owns four school records including career marks for runs scored (235) and hits (277)… He holds single-season records for at-bats (262) and runs scored (94)… Ranks third in career batting average (.373) and RBI (174)… Played in 195 career games, fourth best in USA history… Ranks sixth in career homers with 26… In December of 1988, Mordecai became the first Jaguar to be named first-team preseason All-America… A three-time all-Sun Belt Conference selection and a two-time all-South Region performer… Second-team All-America in 1989 and First-team Freshman All-American…Was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 1989 and made his big-league debut with the Braves in 1994… Made two World Series appearances with the Braves in 1995 and 1996… Had one hit in four World Series at-bats… is entering his eighth big league season, fourth with Montreal Expos.
