STARKVILLE, Miss. – One school record was broken, and multiple personal-bests set, for South Alabama track and field at the 2023 Maroon and White Invite this weekend.

Kyle Rademeyer once again set a new standard in the men's pole vault with an Olympic-level height. Jaguar athletes also took top spots in the hammer and discus throws, shot-put and high jump at the Mike Sanders Track Complex.

FIELD EVENTS
In the women's hammer throw, South Alabama took the top three spots.
Bodine Degli-Umberti finished first with a distance of 59.21 meters,
Colette Uys was second, marking 55.23 meters and
Kira Benkmann was third (51.88 meters).

In the discus throw, Uys took the top spot with a mark of 47.03 meters. On the men's side
Francois Prinsloo and
Sebastian Loschner finished first and second with distances of 59.33 meters and 50.99 meters respectively.
Ryan Faut also finished in the top five with his effort of 45.68 meters.

Kiara Risher finished first in the women's high jump, clearing a height of 1.78 meters, and
Kamdyn Skinner finished in fourth place with a height of 1.62 meters. In the men's competition,
Dorian Curry placed third (2.00 meters) and
Graham Collins fifth (1.95 meters).

Freshman
Nic Glass, alongside
Sebastian Reyneke, finished in the top-10 of the long jump with results of 6.93 meters and 6.81 meters, respectively.

In the women's shot put,
Hanna-Mai Vaikla finished top-10 with a distance of 12.65 meters. Loschner finished in first place on the men's side with a mark of 16.90 meters.
Phillip Douglas III also finished in the top-six, coming in with a distance of 14.22 meters, just .02 meters away from his career-best.

Savannah Morgan finished in sixth in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 3.88 meters. On the men's side, Rademeyer came in first place and set a new program record with a height of 5.82 meters. The height is also a standard height for Olympic Qualifying. Teammate
David Dolan finished in third place with a height of 5.26 meters.

TRACK EVENTS
In the men's 5000 meters,
Tyler Doty set a new personal-best with a time of 15:46.19. In the shorter 110-meter hurdles, freshman
David Garcia finished in third place with a time of 14.39 seconds (+3.9).

Abbey Weitenbeck finished the 800 meters just .01 seconds shy of her personal-best, crossing the line at 2:20.08.

In the men's 100-meter dash,
Josh Norris crossed the line in 10.97 seconds, and
Antuan Crowder was just behind him at 11.01 seconds. In the 400 meters,
Avery Childress set a new personal-best with a time of 47.77 seconds.
Jalen Boyd also set a new personal-best (47.90 seconds) and now sits ninth in school history.

Rachel Hunter finished in second place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.39. On the men's side,
Javon Glen finished in 55.33 seconds.
