TROY, Ala. – South Alabama Soccer (9-3-3, 5-1-3) is set to face Troy (5-8-3, 0-6-3) in a road match for the regular season finale at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Troy Soccer Complex in Troy, Ala.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Jags are 15-8-1 overall against the Trojans, their last match resulting in a 4-1 win on Oct. 13, 2024, at The Cage in Mobile, Ala.
SCOUTING THE JAGS:
- South Alabama heads into the match after a nil-nil draw against Texas State on Friday, handing the Bobcats their first scoreless performance of the season. Sierra Giorgio recorded her seventh shutout of the season between the pipes.
- Following Friday's match, the Jags now have four consecutive shutouts, only three shy from beating the program record.
- South's back line has achieved massive success this season, ranking first in the Sun Belt in goal differential (19), goals-against average (.733), save percentage (.804) and shutout percentage (.600), of which the Jags also rank 14th nationally.
SCOUTING THE TROJANS:
- Troy enters the match after a 0-8 loss against Louisiana on Friday.
- The Trojans rank 38th in the country in saves per game (5.56) and are led offensively by Jiselle Daniels, who has recorded seven goals and 22 shots on goal for the season. Their keeper, Taylor Richards, has 66 saves for the season.
DOWN TO THE WIRE:
Wednesday's series of conference matches will determine the final standings for this year's Sun Belt Conference Tournament. ULM and Texas State are tied for first with 19 points each, while South Alabama and Old Dominion are tied for third with 18 points. An ODU win would secure the East Division, but the West is still up in the air.
