MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama soccer will face Coastal Carolina in the Jags' Sun Belt road opener at 5 p.m. CT on Wednesday at CCU Soccer Stadium in Conway, S.C.
SERIES HISTORY:
South Alabama is 10-3-0 overall against Coastal Carolina, with their last match a 4-1 victory on Sept. 18, 2025.
SCOUTING THE JAGS (3-4-1, 1-0-0 SBC):
- South Alabama faces Coastal Carolina after a 2-0 victory over Troy to open Sun Belt action on Sept. 17. The victory was the Jags' eighth consecutive win over Troy and their fifth consecutive Sun Belt opener win.
- USA has remained unbeaten for four consecutive Sun Belt road openers, the Jags' last loss against Arkansas State on Sept. 17, 2021.
- True freshman Ava Arroyo has tallied five points over the past two matches. She scored her first career goal against Southeastern Louisiana (Sept. 6), and recorded a goal and an assist on Thursday to give the Jaguars a 1-0 start in league play.
- The Jags average 5.63 saves per game, the second-most in the Sun Belt. Additionally, Mackenzie Smith continues to dominate between the pipes, ranking in the national top-10 as she averages 7.00 saves per game.
SCOUTING THE CHANTICLEERS (6-3-1, 0-1-0 SBC):
- The Chants host the Jaguars after falling to Louisiana in their conference opener on Sunday, 3-2.
- Coastal Carolina has 11 goal scorers through 10 matches, including Kyra Kotsopoulos, a South Alabama transfer.
- Goalkeeper Aris Lamanna has recorded five shutouts this season, leading the Chants to rank first in the Sun Belt in shutout percentage (.600).
- Head Coach Pete Cuadrado is in his first year at the helm after having spent four seasons at Tarleton State. Cuadrado has a 200-170-58 career mark.
