MONROE, La. – Francois Prinsloo won the fifth Sun Belt Conference title of his career, and multiple Jaguars obtained podium finishes as the South Alabama Track and Field team opened the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships Saturday afternoon before inclement weather postponed all competition until tomorrow morning.
In the Field
Prinsloo dominated his competitors once again for South Alabama. Prinsloo launched a season-best throw of 61.62 meters (202'2") in the hammer throw to win the event and claim the fifth gold medal of his career. Samuel Mika finished close behind Prinsloo in fourth place after hurling a personal best throw of 56.70 meters (186 '0 ").
Bodine Degli-Umberti earned her sixth All-Sun Belt performer of her career. Degli-Umberti recorded a season-best throw of 59.96 meters (196'9") to climb onto the podium, placing third overall.
Over in the pole vault, Alexis Gratia vaulted to a clearance of 3.87 meters (12 '8.25) to secure second place overall and fall five inches short of a Sun Belt Conference Title. Savannah Morgan notched the best finish of her career, finishing in fifth place with a height of 3.72 meters (12'2.5").
On the Track
In the women's 400-meter hurdles, Grace Wolf blazed to a time of 1:02.00 to take seventh place overall and qualify for the finals on Saturday night.
Multi's Day One
Nic Glass and Sebastian Reyneke led the way for the Jags in the decathlon. Following the first day of competition, Glass is in third place with 3766 points after finishing with a personal best long jump of 7.17 meters (23 '6.25"). Reyneke trails Glass narrowly in fourth place with a season-best point total of 3745 points.
Kayden Engel is in ninth place after the first day of competition with 2924 points and a third-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.64 meters (5 '4.50").

After the women's 400-meter hurdles, lightning and other inclement weather conditions caused the final six events to be postponed until tomorrow morning, starting with the women's 10,000 meters at 8 a.m. CT.
