MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's basketball Redshirt Freshman forward John Broom was named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the organization announced.
Recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom, the CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's basketball honorees in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Broom started in all 32 games this season for the Jaguars, averaging 5.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 44.4 % from the field. Broom led the team and ranks second all-time among South Alabama freshmen in steals in a season with 50. The Jacksonville, Alabama native finished second on the team in rebounds with 183, including 59 offensive boards, while notching a career-high 14 points and nine rebounds against Spring Hill on Nov.18.
Broom is pursuing a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
