MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's basketball head coach Richie Riley announced the addition of Russian forward Alexey Sereda to the Jaguars' 2026-27 roster.
Sereda, a 7-foot, 215-pound forward from Krasnoyarsk, Russia, comes to South Alabama after competing in his home country, most recently with BC Enisey Krasnoyarsk of the VTB United League.
"Alexey brings an incredible amount of versatility to our team," Riley said. "With his size, skill, and shooting ability, he adds another dimension to our program. In addition, we're excited about the length and shot blocking he adds to our zone."
Prior to his time with Enisey, Sereda played for SSHOR-Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodarskiy Kray in Russia's Superleague during the 2024-25 season. He also spent time with Lokomotiv Kuban's second team and competed within the organization's youth system.
Sereda helped Lokomotiv Kuban advance to the semifinals of the VTB Youth League in 2024.
Sereda becomes the ninth addition to South Alabama's 2026 signing class and the fifth international newcomer, joining fellow newcomers Keyne Costa, Roderick Williams Jr., Diego Roman, Owen Kenney, Jalen Langsy, Aaron Goldstein, Davaughn Hueitt and Lenni Kunzewitsch.
