For the third game in a row, the Jags had a slow start, scoring a season-low 18 points in the first half, but USA rallied and outscored the Cajuns 38-25 in the second half to force overtime. In overtime, Myles Corey shut the door with a clutch layup with 41 seconds remaining and split a pair of free throws after a defensive stop to secure the victory for South Alabama.

Notes

- The Jags have made a living this season by applying intense zone pressure schemes to opposing offenses. They rank fifth in the country in field goal percentage defense (37.4), 10th in scoring defense (62.3), and 12th in steals per game (9.7). "We want our calling card to be our defense. We want to play our zone with force and discipline," said Head Coach Richie Riley

-  South Alabama made its largest comeback of the season at Louisiana. The Jags trailed by 13 at the half and stormed back to claim an overtime victory. In total,  South Alabama is 13-2 when leading at the break and 2-6 when trailing at halftime.

- Head coach Richie Riley's teams have been dominant in February since he took the reins of the program in the 2018-19 season. Riley owns a 34-15 record in the month, and last season, the Jags won six of their final eight games to end the year.

Myles Corey has led the way for the Jaguars throughout this season. He ranks 10th in the Sun Belt in points per game, averaging 14.5. Corey ranks sixth in the conference in assists per game (4.2), sixth in field goal percentage (44.3),  and seventh in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8). Corey has scored double figures 16 times this season, and tallied 17 second-half points against Louisiana, including a game-clinching acrobatic layup to help win the game in overtime.

- South Alabama ranks first in the Sun Belt and 12th in the country in steals per game with 9.5. Four Jaguars rank in the top 15 in the SBC in steals per game (John Broom 1.9, JJ Wheat 1.7, Myles Corey 1.3, and Dylan Fasoyiro 1.3).

- Head coach Richie Riley has started 19 out of 23 games this season with the same starting five (Corey, Fasoyiro, Broom, Dunning Jr, Brady). The Jags made a change to the first five for the first time in six last games in Lafayette, starting (Rahming, Fasoyiro, Wheat, Broom, Brown). Before that, the last time the lineup changed was when Elijah Ormiston filled in for three games when Randy Brady was sidelined with an injury.

-  Despite snapping a three-game losing streak Saturday, South has been in a slump offensively, shooting an average of 22.4 percent from behind the arc and 57.8 percent from the free throw line in the last four games. After averaging 75 points per game through the first 18 contests, the Jags have come just short of scoring 70 points in the previous five games in a row., posting a 2-3 record in that stretch.
