MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama closes its preseason slate this Saturday, hosting Auburn Aug. on 12 at The Cage at 6 p.m.
 
Saturday will be South's final tune-up before regular season action starts Thursday, Aug. 17, vs. Nicholls in the Lester Bimah Battle of the Bayou Tournament.

South Alabama Notes

• South Alabama is coming off of an 11-2-7 record from the 2022 season, going 6-1-3 in Sun Belt action.
• South posted a 5-0 record in the spring 2023 season and allowed zero goals.
• The Jags return 14 from last year's roster, including leading scorer and SBC Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year Jasmine Greene and First-Team All-Sun Belt defender Abby Jacobs. Greene was also named SBC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Jacobs, Gabriela Angulo and Monique Gray were named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team.
• The Jags also return starting goalkeeper Jaidy Gutierrez Campos, who posted a .59 GAA and had 12 clean sheets, both setting program records.
• Twelve newcomers join the program this season, which includes six transfers and six freshmen.
• South is coming off of a loss in their first preseason exhibition match, falling to Samford, 5-2.

 
Auburn Notes

• The Tigers posted a 6-6-6 record a season ago, going 2-6-2 in SEC action.
• Auburn's leading scorer from 2022 Maddie Simpson, who scored four goals and added an assist, returns to the Auburn squad.
• Goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska also returns to Auburn's roster, after posting seven shutouts and six wins a season ago.
• Auburn played its first preseason scrimmage Wednesday night, tying Mercer 0-0 in a shortened match.
