GREENWOOD, Ind. – College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday that five members of South Alabama Soccer were named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-District Team – Bonnie Frost, Mae Hunt, Andrea Iljkic, Ava Matherne and Juliana Lopes.
To qualify for the Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore athletically and academically, and have played in at least 90 percent or started at least 33 percent of their team's matches from the current season.
Bonnie Frost, a senior and co-captain, led the team to rank ninth nationally in shutout percentage (.611) and 20th in goals-against average (.659). The defender from Decatur, Ala., led her back line to 11 shutouts for the season, five of them consecutive. Both numbers were one shy of the program record. Frost was also named to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team.
In her second year with the Jaguars, sophomore Mae Hunt recorded two goals, both of which were the first in their respective matches. Hunt recorded the game-winner in the 11th minute against Southern Miss (9/21).
Iljkic had an impressive first year with the Jags, earning First Team All-Sun Belt honors and being named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week on 9/2. She totaled five goals and two assists, highlighted by a brace against Coastal Carolina, where she scored two goals within the first five minutes of the match, each within a minute of each other.
Similar to Iljkic is Ava Matherne, who recorded a brace against ULM (10/2), the Sun Belt's Regular Season Champion. Matherne recorded four goals and four assists during the season, leading South Alabama to a West Division Championship. She also recorded one game-winner and one successful penalty kick.
Closing it out for the Jags is senior and co-captain Juliana Lopes, who recorded three goals and one assist, including a game-winner on senior night against Southeastern Louisiana (8/31). She also recorded a goal and an assist against Mississippi State, who competed in this year's Collegiate Cup.
