Jags look to end three-game losing streak in final homestand of the season

MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama closes out the home portion of its schedule by hosting No. 8 Coastal Carolina beginning Friday night with just two conference series remaining.

South Alabama (23-24, 11-13 SBC) currently sits in a tie for 10th in the conference standings with Georgia State, who they hold the tiebreaker over. They are one game behind App State, two back of Troy and Old Dominion, and three back of Louisiana and Georgia Southern in the standings.

Will Turner leads South Alabama at the plate, hitting .368 on the season with an OPS of 1.123. He has collected 67 hits (second in the conference) with 28 of those being for extra bases including nine home runs, while also scoring 47 runs and driving in another 47. Joseph Sullivan is hitting .308 with 11 home runs and 39 RBI (17 stolen bases), while Colson Lawrence is tied for the team lead with 11 home runs. Meanwhile, Erick Orbeta is hitting .304 on the season with 12 doubles from the leadoff spot.

As a team, South Alabama is hitting .271 through 47 games.

On the mound, a pair of relievers lead the way for South Alabama led by Matthew DeLano (2-0, 5.68 ERA) with 14 appearances and Grant Wood (4-2, 5.34 ERA) with five saves and 19 appearances, while Lawrence (2-0, 2.70 ERA) has come out of the pen to record three saves. Caden Homniok (1-1, 2.79 ERA) has come out of the bullpen, and has started a game this season for the Jags after returning halfway through the season.
