Jags to host New Orleans on Tuesday night in “Bark in the Park” game

South Alabama is in the midst of an eight-game homestand

MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama will host New Orleans for the second time this season at Eddie Stanky Field with first pitch at 6:30 pm on Tuesday night.

The game will also be "Bark in the Park" where fans can bring their pet to the game. This is a dog-friendly event, so fans are asked to go online and fill out a form for their animal friends (click here).

South Alabama (21-19, 9-9 Sun Belt) and New Orleans met earlier this season with the Jags winning 10-7 on an Austin Thrasher grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to seal the comeback. South Alabama enters the game after having won four consecutive conference series, including the last two at home, and has won 10 out of its last 13 games (11 out of the last 15). With the win, the Jags also are just a half-game back of App State (-8 for eighth place in the conference standings, and just one game back of third place (and two of second).

Will Turner leads South Alabama at the plate, hitting .381 on the season with an OPS of 1.187. He has collected 59 hits with 26 of those being for extra-bases including nine home runs, while also scoring 43 runs and driving in another 45. Meanwhile, Joseph Sullivan is hitting .325 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI (14 stolen bases), and Erick Orbeta is hitting .309 on the season with 12 doubles from the leadoff spot.

Colson Lawrence is tied for the team lead for the Jags with 10 home runs.

On the mound, a pair of relievers lead the way for South Alabama led by Matthew DeLano (2-0, 6.30ERA) with 13 appearances and Grant Wood (4-2, 5.40 ERA) with five saves and 17 appearances. Mitchell Heer (3-1, 4.34 ERA) and Jeremy Lee (1-5, 5.14 ERA) have been dominant in their last two weekend starts.
