MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama track and field once again set multiple school records this week, as they participated in the Texas Relays and the Southern Miss Invitational.
Colette Uys beat her previous record in the shot-put event, and
Kyle Rademeyer once again set a new standard in the pole vault with his effort at the Texas Relays.
TEXAS RELAYS
Uys won her shot-put group with a throw of 16.81 meters to claim the new program record. She also recorded a discus throw of 47.93 meters, good for ninth in the group.
Sebastian Loschner recorded a discus throw of 51.55 meters, and
Francois Prinsloo recorded a distance of 57.29 meters.
Hanna-Mai Vaikla finished the heptathlon with a score of 5,057 points.
Pole-vaulter
Kyle Rademeyer finished in fourth place in the men's university elite group with a height of 5.61 meters, which is a new South Alabama record for outdoor pole vault.
Loschner also traveled to participate in the Texas State Invitational on Saturday, where he recorded a distance of 16.68 meters in the shot put.
SOUTHERN MISS INVITATIONAL
Track Events
South Alabama finished in second place in the men's 4x100-meter relay with a season-best time of 40.72 seconds. The Jags took third in the men's 4x400-meter relay, crossing the line in 3:16.92.
Giovanna Corradi finished in third place in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.48 seconds. In the men's 400 meters,
Xavier Rogers recorded a season-best time of 48.22 seconds to finish in third place. In sixth place with a time of 49.00 seconds was
Avery Childress.
Kendal White finished the men's 100 meters in 10.69 seconds to claim eighth place. In the men's 400-meter hurdles,
Javon Glen finished in 10
th place with a personal-best time of 58.91 seconds.
Another personal-record was set in the women's 400-meter hurdles, as
Grace Wolf finished in first place with a time of 1:03.24.
Rachel Hunter finished in second place with a time of 1:04.83, and
Josie Pry finished in fifth place, crossing the finish line in 1:06.59.
Field Events
In the men's hammer throw,
Ryan Faut set a new personal-best with a throw of 53.27 meters, finishing in third place. Right behind him in fourth place,
Dimitrios Manesiotis had his best throw of the season, reaching 52.78 meters.
Kira Benkmann won the women's hammer throw with a distance of 53.27 meters, and
Iyana Johnson came in third place with her distance of 49.67 meters.
Jaguar
Kamdyn Skinner won the women's high jump, clearing a height of 1.59 meters. On the men's side,
Dorian Curry cleared 1.99 meters to finish in fourth place.
Manesiotis earned his second fourth-place finish of the meet in the shot put with his effort of 14.75 meters.
Phillip Douglas III joined him in the top-10, finishing in seventh with a distance of 13.91 meters.
Bodine Degli-Umberti won the women's shot put with an effort of 15.36 meters, and Johnson finished fifth at 11.91 meters.
Degli-Umberti also finished on top in the discus event, throwing 49.48 meters. Faut was the top Jaguar on the men's side, coming in fifth place with a distance of 45.65 meters.
