JACKSONVILLE, Ala. | South Alabama hits the road for the first time in a weekend series this season, facing in-state foe Jacksonville State at Rudy Abbott Field at Jim Case Stadium beginning Friday.
The series starts with a first pitch on Friday at 6 pm, followed by a Saturday pitch at 6 pm, and Sunday at 1 pm. Weather for the weekend will be in the high 60s with a 90 percent chance of rain on Sunday.
South Alabama (7-6), winners of back-to-back games, will look to win three consecutive games for the first time since winning three games from February 18-22. The Jags are coming off a 10-7 win over New Orleans on Tuesday night behind a grand slam off the bat of
Austin Thrasher in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Will Turner leads the Jags at the plate hitting .423 through 13 games with ten extra base hits, including seven doubles and two triples. He has scored 11 runs and knocked a team-high 18 RBI.
Erick Orbeta is hitting .310 on the season with 18 hits, while
JG Bell is at .306 and
Joseph Sullivan .303 with a pair of home runs.
Sam Knowlton (1-0, 0.00 ERA) leads the team in ERA through four appearances, while
Danny Diaz (1-0, 2.00 ERA) and
Zach Willingham (2-0, 3.86 ERA) lead the team in appearances with five each out of the bullpen.
Grant Wood (2-0, 4.15 ERA) leads the team with two saves, while
Gehrig Conard (0-3, 4.15 ERA) leads the team with 23 strikeouts.
