MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's tennis continues conference play with a road trip to Southern Miss on Saturday and Louisiana on Sunday, with both matches starting at 11 a.m.
South (9-6) opened conference play 2-0, beating No. 75 Old Dominion 4-3 and sweeping JMU 7-0.
In South's win over Old Dominion, the Jags got singles wins from Sebastian Collard,
Louis Delcour,
Martin Bugaj and
Javier Montoya to get four point after dropping the doubles point.
Against JMU, South didn't drop a single match, and only dropped one set throughout the whole day.
Senior
Sebastien Collard posted a 4-0 weekend, earning him Sun Belt honors, the second week in a row a Jagauar has earned Sun Belt Tennis Player of the Week.
Collard opened the weekend with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Younes Lalami of No. 75 Old Dominion at number one in singles, while him his partner
Martin Bugaj issued the Old Dominion duo of Luca Laldoner Jakob Cadonaua 7-6 defeat. On Sunday, Collard beat Holden Koons of James Madison 6-1, 6-3 and him and Bugaj won 6-3 over Julian Lozano and Edson Sanchez of James Madison.
Senior
Martin Bugaj is now 11-2 on the season, while sophomore
Maxime St-Hilaire is 11-4 on the year.
Southern Miss is 6-8 on the year and opened Sun Belt play last weekend, falling to Coastal Carolina 2-5.
Louisiana is 8-6 this season and is riding a three-match winning streak, defeating Coastal Carolina 6-1 their last time out.
The Ragin Cajuns are host to the No. 59 doubles duo in Karlo Kajin and Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez, who are 6-5 on the year.
South is 17-3 all-time against Southern Miss and the teams will be meeting for the first time as conference opponents Saturday. The Jags are 24-17 all-time against Louisiana and has a four-match winning streak agaist the Cajuns.
