MOBILE – The South Alabama men's tennis team will travel to Auburn to play in the ITA Southern Regional Championships from Oct. 8-12.
The Jaguars entered into the field are
Harold van Raemdonck,
Jules Caby,
Jonathan Kneer,
Victor Frumholz, and
Deren Yigin. The latter four will start in the qualifying draw, while van Raemdonck was placed directly into the main draw.
"We had really good results last weekend at the Blue Gray Tournament," said head coach
Nick Brochu. "The number one goal is to continue improving, continue to carry that momentum forward. The second goal is, regardless of who's in front of us, we've got to play 100 percent. It's going to be a very strong tournament with the best teams from the states of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, so all of the big dogs are going to be there, which is very motivating for the guys. They get a chance to face these big opponents."
Qualifying rounds at Auburn start on Thursday, with the main draws to follow on Friday and through the weekend. The tournament is slated to be played outdoors but may get shifted to the indoor courts due to the pending weather forecast.
"We're still working on finding the best doubles teams, you know, who's got the best chemistry together," Brochu said. "We're still trying to see who complements each other the best. Our goal is to keep working hard as we look for that this weekend."
