BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two school records were beat, and a third tied, by South Alabama track and field athletes in the South Alabama Invitational on Sunday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Colette Uys broke her school record in the women's shot put that she set earlier this year, and
Dorian Curry had his best effort in the high jump this season to solidify his place among the South Alabama greats.

TRACK EVENTS
In the women's 5000 meters,
Adele Magaud finished in second place with a time of 17:02.68, fifth-best in school history.
Starlynn Costa finished behind her in fourth place, crossing the finish line in 17:10.41.

Kirami Yego finished in second place in the men's mile run, recording a time of 4:08.05, fifth-fastest in school history.
Giacomo Deluca and
Teagan Flanagan also finished in the top-10, crossing the line in sixth place (4:10.78) and seventh place (4:11.77), respectively. On the women's side,
Abbey Weitenbeck was the top finisher for the Jaguars, coming in 12
th place with a time of 5:17.07.

Freshman
Avery Childress was the lone Jaguar to place in the top-10 of the 400 meters, coming in fourth place with a time of 49.16 seconds.
Josie Pry finished the 60-meter hurdles in 8.95 seconds, crossing the line in 11
th place.
Kendal White's time of 8.10 seconds in the men's 60-meter hurdles placed him in sixth.

Javon Glen was the top Jaguar in the men's 200 meters, placing 12
th with a time of 21.99 seconds.

In the 3000 meters, Yego recorded the fifth-fastest time in school history and a new personal-best with his effort of 8:11.28. He finished second, right in front of teammate Flanagan (8:12.80).

FIELD EVENTS
South Alabama took the top-two spots in the women's shot put. Uys won the event, scoring a distance of 15.90 meters (52 feet, two inches). The effort is a new school record, besting Uys's previous record by 1.3 meters.
Bodine Degli-Umberti finished in second with her throw of 14.73 meters (48 feet, four inches).

 On the men's side,
Sebastian Loschner took third place with a distance of 16.43 meters (53 feet, 11 inches).

In the women's high jump,
Kiara Risher cleared a height of 1.74 meters (5 feet, 8.5 inches), finishing second behind Jada Shanklin of Memphis, who recorded the same height in one less attempt. Jaguar
Kamdyn Skinner joined her teammate in the top-10. She cleared 1.64 meters (5 feet, 4.5 inches), good for sixth place.

Curry set a new school record in the men's high jump. His clearance of 2.15 meters (7 feet, 0.5 inches) earned him first place in today's competition.

Kyle Rademeyer finished second in the pole vault with a height of 5.52 meters (18 feet, 1.25 inches), which is fourth in school history. Memphis's Cole Riddle finished in first with a height of 5.64 meters (18 feet, six inches), a new meet record.

In the women's competition,
Ina Edstrom was the top finisher for South Alabama, clearing a height of 3. 65 meters (11 feet, 11.75 inches). She finished in third place.

In the women's weight throw, Degli-Umberti tied the school record, reaching a distance of 19.44 meters (63 feet, 9.5 inches), finishing in third place. Uys was right behind her in fourth place (18.90 meters/62 feet, .25 inches).

On the men's side,
Francois Prinsloo placed second by recording a distance of 19.28 meters (63 feet, 3.25 inches), second-longest in school history.
Dimitrios Manesiotis finished in sixth place with his new personal-best throw of 17.13 meters (56 feet, 2.5 inches).

"It was a good meet overall. We had some solid performances and several personal-bests, a new school record and another that tied the school record. We just need to go back and fine-tune some things for the conference meet."
