NEW ORLEANS, La. – Senior forward
Jasmine Greene was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Greene scored a hat trick in South Alabama's 8-1 win over Southern Miss on Sunday. Greene now has 10 goals on the season.
It was the second hat trick of the season for the Jags, as
Monique Gray recorded one during the Jags 7-0 win over McNeese state earlier this season. The hat trick was the 21st hat trick in program history and the fourth under head coach
Richard Moodie.
Greene scored all three goals in less than 15 minutes in the second half, finding the back of the net for the first time in the 70th minute off an assist from
Morgan Cross to give South a 6-1 lead. Greene then scored just three minutes later to extend the lead to 7-1. Greene secured the hat trick in the 84th minute when her and Cross connected again for a goal, making it 8-1.
The Jags hit the road this week with a matchup at Texas State on Thursday, before returning home to close our their home slate on Sunday for senior day.
