2019 NCAA Division I ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams
GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of South Alabama baseball freshman outfielder Ethan Wilson was recently named Third-Team All-America by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings.
He earned First-Team All-Central Region honors last week, which allowed him to be nominated for All-America accolades. Wilson is the first Jaguar to earn All-America honors from the ABCA since Travis Swaggerty earned Second-Team All-America accolades from the organization in 2017.
Wilson was also named the Co-National Freshman of the Year by
Collegiate Baseball, First-Team Freshman All-America by
Collegiate Baseball, Third-Team All-America by
Collegiate Baseball and a First-Team Freshman All-America selection by the NCBWA earlier this month.
The Andalusia, Ala., native was voted the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, and was also a First-Team All-Sun Belt selection in the outfield, after finishing the season ranked second in the league in slugging percentage (.686) and total bases (151), tied for second in home runs (17), tied for third in runs scored (59), sixth in batting average (.345) and on-base percentage (.453), tied for eighth in hits (76), ninth in RBIs (51) and tied for ninth in doubles (16). Wilson was the only NCAA Division I freshman in the nation to be named conference player of the year.
He broke the program's freshman home run record, and his 17 home runs in 2019 are the most by a Jaguar since Jeff Cunningham's single-season record of 22 in 2007.
