NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama right-hander Drake Nightengale was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.

Nightengale (6-2) struck out 11 Troy batters in 7 2/3 innings pitched to lead the Jaguars to an 8-2 win in last Friday's series opener at Stanky Field. Nightengale allowed two runs on four hits to earn his sixth win of the season.

Tuesday's announcement marks the third time this season Nightengale has been named the league's pitcher of the week. He earned the honor on Feb. 26 after nine strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings pitched against Tennessee Tech on Feb. 23, and was named the league's pitcher of the week on April 23 as well.

Louisiana's Hunter Kasuls was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week.
