NEW ORLEANS, La. - Senior righthander
Mitchell Heer's defining presence on the mound across his nine starts was enough to garner all-conference recognition for his 2025 campaign.
Heer made 12 appearances for the Red, White, and Blue this season, with nine starts across his final nine appearances. All nine of Heer's starts went 5.1+ innings, with four games of 7+ innings. Seven of his starts went six or more innings with three or fewer earned runs, qualifying as a "Quality Start", which he led the team in.
In totality, Heer threw 66.1 innings, struck out 39 batters, only walked 15, allowed 60 hits, and only 26 earned runs for a season ERA of 3.53 and a 7-2 record.Â
Heer's first start of the season was 6.0 innings against Louisiana (3/22), where he only allowed two hits and one run while striking out two batters as the Jags took the game, 8-1. The senior's second start came in the series-tying win at No. 13 Southern Miss (3/29), in which he struck out six batters across 6.2 innings, only allowing four hits and three runs in the 6-3 win. Heer tossed a career high 7.1 innings three separate times at Arkansas State (4/12), against Troy (5/3), and at ULM (5/16). His finale at ULM also tied his season best six strikeouts.
As a fielder, he totaled five putouts, 12 assists, and three errors on the season, while also participating in a 1-4-6-3 double play against App State (5/10, game two).
