MOBILE, Ala. – Tuesday's game between the University of South Alabama baseball team and Alabama State at Stanky Field was suspended due to fog.
The game was halted in the bottom of the fourth inning when officials deemed the fog too thick to continue play. A potential date to resume the game will be decided on at a later time.
South Alabama (2-1) will return to action Wednesday when faces New Orleans in a 6:30 p.m. contest at Maestri Field at Privateer Park in New Orleans, La.

QUOTES
Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On the game being suspended:
"At our home plate meeting, (Alabama State) Coach (Jose') Vazquez and I agreed that we were okay to start the game. But once the game starts, it's in the umpires hands. The last thing I said to the umpires was that if you feel like it is unsafe at any point, then we'll pick it up at another time and make an adjustment. Alabama State's outfielders struggled seeing the baseball, and I think the umpires made the right call in the name of safety."
- On Andy Arguelles:
"It was good to get Andy out there. He's obviously not 100 percent or where he'd like to be velocity-wise, but I thought he hung in there and fought."
- On the game:
"We got off to a slow start, but give their (Alabama State) pitcher (Ricardo Rivera) credit. The ball was a little slippery and he had some deception. We had some strikeouts early, and then we got off the hook with a couple of doubles in a row. Carter (Perkins) came through with the big hit, and we scored a few from there. It was a little lackluster early, but I want to give their pitcher credit. And (Chase) Lambert came in behind Arguelles and did a good job."
