MEN’S TENNIS TRAVELS TO FLORIDA FOR SPRING BREAK TRIP

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama No. 29 men's tennis team heads to Florida for a three-match spring break road trip, starting with UCF on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  The Jaguars will also face Florida Gulf Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and George Washington at 3:00 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla. on Wednesday.

"This trip will be a good test," said South Alabama head coach Nick Brochu. "We have had a great half of the season and earned a good ranking and many big wins, but we need to keep on pushing ourselves and try to get better every day. I'm looking forward to seeing the guys compete hard and show that we are a team with strong character. UCF is a strong program who is improving fast and will probably finish in the top 40. Florida Gulf Coast and George Washington are also familiar teams in the rankings and will be a good opportunity for us to fight for big wins."

South Alabama won their 15th-straight match on Wednesday, defeating USC Upstate 7-0 at home.  Win a win against the Knights the Jags can tie the program's longest winning streak, set by the 1992 team from Feb. 18th-April 11th.

UCF has gone 8-5 on the spring season.  The Knights dropped a home match 6-1 to No. 48 Tulsa on Friday, but defeated Penn State 4-2 on Wednesday and Davidson 6-1 last Sunday at home.  South Alabama has won all three matches against UCF, with the last victory coming on Jan. 10th two years ago.

Florida Gulf Coast is 4-5 this year and has dropped three of its past four matches.  The Eagles fell 4-0 at home on Friday to ETSU.  The Jags have won in all three matches against the Eagles with a pair of wins in 2010 and a 4-3 win on Jan. 17th last season.

George Washington sports a 9-4 record coming into the weekend.  The Colonials have won four-straight matches, including a pair of neutral site wins against Navy (7-0) and St. John's (5-2) last weekend.  George Washington won the only meeting against South Alabama 6-1 on Feb. 23rd, 2013.
