MYRTLE STANKY, WIFE OF FORMER JAG COACH EDDIE STANKY, PASSES AWAY

Myrtle Stanky, the wife of legendary former University of South Alabama baseball head coach Eddie Stanky, passed away Sat., Nov. 12, at the age of 92.



MOBILE, Ala. – Myrtle Stanky, the wife of legendary former University of South Alabama baseball head coach Eddie Stanky, passed away Sat., Nov. 12, at the age of 92. She was surrounded by her family in her daughter’s home at the time of her passing.

The family will receive friends at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, Ala., Wed., Nov. 16 from 5-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Mobile, Thu., Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service begins. Interment will follow in The Catholic Cemetary in Mobile.

Stanky was a native and longtime resident of Mobile, and resided most recently in Montrose, Ala. She and coach Stanky were married for 57 years before his passing in 1999. Coach Stanky coached at USA for 14 seasons, leading the Jags to two Sun Belt Conference championships and five NCAA Regionals.
