OPENING TIP
South Alabama is looking for its first-ever victory in Bartow Arena and first win in Birmingham since Feb. 27, 1988. UAB has won seven in a row over the Jaguars at home.

UAB’s current five-game winning streak over USA is the second longest by either team in the series. The Blazers won nine straight from 1981-85.

Cameron Moore, who leads UAB in both scoring (19.0) and rebounding (10.0), had just three points and one rebound against South Alabama in last year’s meeting. He is coming off a 22-point, 13-rebound performance Tuesday at Arizona State and has recorded a double-double in each of his last two games.

Tim Williams enjoyed a career night Saturday, setting a new high with 33 points on 11-for-13 shooting. His point total was the highest for a USA player since Dec. 15, 2007, and the first 30-point game for a USA player since Jan. 8, 2009. He scored 20 of his 33 points in the first half alone.

All seven of Raymond Sims’s points vs. Central Michigan came in overtime. He scored the team’s first seven points of the extra period himself, making 2-of-2 from the field—including a 3-pointer—and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. He also added a steal.

Augustine Rubit bounced back from his one-point outing at Southern Miss with his second double-double of the season vs. CMU with 11 points and 12 rebounds. He ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in rebounding at 9.7 rpg.

Gary Redus came off the bench for the first time this season and responded with 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks—all season highs. The bench role ended his streak of 11 straight starts—second longest on the team. He averaged 8.4 points per game in 22 games off the bench last season.

Martino Brock only hit 2-for-11 from the floor in his last outing, but made up for it in other areas with a season-high nine rebounds, four assists and four steals. Saturday marked the second time this season he tied his personal best with four steals. He leads the SBC in steals per game with 2.7.
