Riley Announces Signings of Keyne Costa and Roderick Williams Jr.

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's basketball head coach Richie Riley announced the signings of forwards Keyne Costa and Roderick Williams Jr. to the program for the 2026-27 season.

Costa joins the Jaguars from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Okla., where the 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward from Brussels, Belgium, spent the past two seasons and earned Honorable Mention All-Region 2 honors during the 2025-26 campaign.

"Keyne plays incredibly hard with a competitive edge that will translate," said Riley. "His athleticism and size will be impactful on both ends of the floor. Pumped to have Keyne with us."

Costa appeared in 31 games with 19 starts for the Golden Norsemen last season, averaging 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 53.2 percent from the field. He also knocked down 41.4 percent of his three-point attempts and converted 76.8 percent of his free throws.

Costa reached double figures in scoring 15 times during his sophomore season and established himself as one of the top frontcourt players in Region 2. His ability to impact the game on both the interior and perimeter helped him earn All-Region recognition.

Williams Jr. arrives in Mobile as a 6-foot-6, 215-pound forward from Magnolia, Ark., after a strong 2025-26 season at Southern Arkansas, where he started all 28 games and averaged 12.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.

"Roderick brings a high level of skill and IQ to our program," said Riley. "He is very efficient on the offensive end, providing great versatility. We're excited to have him in our family and look forward to the big impact he will have."

Williams shot 54.4 percent from the field, 36.1 percent from three-point range, and 79.3 percent from the free-throw line while totaling 348 points and 153 rebounds. Against Great American Conference competition, Williams averaged 12.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 54.9 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from three-point range. He reached double figures in scoring 17 times, including three 20-point performances.

His best outing of the season came Jan. 30 against Oklahoma Baptist when he scored a season-high 24 points. Williams also tallied 23 points against Dallas Baptist and added 22 points at Southeastern Oklahoma State. On the glass, he recorded two double-digit rebounding games and finished with four contests of eight or more rebounds.

Costa and Williams Jr. become the latest additions to South Alabama's 2026 signing class, joining fellow newcomers Diego Roman, Owen Kenney, Jalen Langsy, Aaron Goldstein, Davaughn Hueitt and Lenni Kunzewitsch.
