MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Track & Field closed out the 2026 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Jaguar Track Complex with a pair of conference titles from Charleen Elizondo and the men's 4x400-meter relay team, highlighting the Jaguars' final day in front of the home crowd.

The Jaguar men finished fourth overall with 92.5 points, while the women placed fourth with 69.33 points in the three-day championship meet.

South Alabama's biggest moment of the final day came in the men's 4x400-meter relay, when Avery Childress, Marlon Miller, Nieko Garnes, and Jordan Morrison captured the Sun Belt Championship while setting both a school and facility record with a time of 3:07.68. 

Elizondo capped off a dominant championship weekend by winning the women's 5,000 meters in 16:52.54 after also claiming the 10,000-meter title earlier in the meet, completing the distance double for South Alabama.

Texas State claimed both team championships, totaling 157 points on the men's side and 128.83 points on the women's side. App State finished second in the men's standings with 128 points, while Louisiana placed runner-up on the women's side with 96 points.

Additional podium performances for the Jaguars included Dianna Goodman earning silver in the women's pole vault after clearing 4.03m and Brady Keller taking bronze in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:50.71 before placing fourth in the 1,500 meters at 3:47.41.

Presleigh Montalvo added a fourth-place finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.75, while Avery Childress placed fourth in the men's 400 meters (47.07) and eighth in the men's 200 meters (21.41). Ava Wheaton also recorded a fourth-place finish in the women's javelin with a throw of 47.51m.

Iyana Johnson recorded fifth-place finishes in both the women's triple jump and hammer throw, while South Alabama also picked up scoring performances from Emily Miles in the women's 800 and 1,500 meters, Akasha Dudley in the women's shot put and hammer throw, and Kayden Engel in the women's high jump.

South Alabama will now await the final declaration lists for the 2026 NCAA East First Round, scheduled for May 27-30 in Lexington. The top 48 individuals in each event and top 24 relay teams in the East Region will qualify for the opening round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
