MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Track & Field continued its strong showing at the 2026 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships on Friday as Samuel Warriner and Terek Logan each earned silver medals, with Warriner breaking the school record in the decathlon and Logan moving to second in program history in the pole vault to lead the Jaguars at Jaguar Track.
After two days of competition, the South Alabama women currently sit second in the team standings with 44 points, trailing only Texas State's 80 points, though the women's standings remain unofficial due to events under protest. On the men's side, the Jaguars are fourth with 47.5 points, sitting behind App State (52), Arkansas State (52.5), and overall leader Texas State (71).
South Alabama was led Friday by a pair of silver-medal finishes from Samuel Warriner and Terek Logan. Warriner earned runner-up honors in the decathlon with a school-record 7,366 points after posting top-four finishes in six events throughout the competition. Logan claimed silver in the men's pole vault after clearing a personal-best 5.53m (18-1.75), the No. 21 mark in the NCAA this season and the second-best clearance in program history. Grayson Venezia also added crucial points in the pole vault, clearing 5.03 meters to earn eighth place.
On the women's side, freshman Akasha Dudley placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 15.07m (49-5.5) to score five points for the Jaguars.
In the heptathlon, Calli Stokes earned fourth place with 4,998 points after recording runner-up finishes in the javelin and shot put, while Jamie Willis finished in sixth with 4,854 points.
On the track, the Jaguars qualified several athletes for Saturday's finals.
Avery Childress and Marlon Miller both advanced to the men's 400m final after clocking times of 47.43 and 47.72, respectively. Childress posted a personal-best mark in prelims.
Brady Keller earned an automatic qualification spot in the men's 800m final after winning his heat in 1:51.20, while Emily Miles advanced to the women's 800m final with a personal-best 2:11.62.
In the women's 100m hurdles, Presleigh Montalvo secured a spot in the final after running 13.94 in prelims.
