MOBILE, Ala. - South Alabama (21-15, 8-7 SBC) will open an eight game homestand with the second and final game of the season series with Nicholls State (19-18, 11-10 SLC) when it visits Stanky Field on Tuesday night, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. (CT).
SERIES HISTORY
South Alabama and Nicholls State have met once this season when the Jaguars left Thibodaux in game four of the season with a 7-5 victory. The 57th game in the all-time series between the two squads is slated for Tuesday night, April 14. The Jags hold a 38-18 advantage in its history, and have won the last two meetings at Stanky Field (2024, 2025). South Alabama also holds an active six-game win streak over the Colonels, looking to make it seven and sweep the season series. The Jags are 11-4 when the Colonels visit Stanky since 2006, and have a 7-3 edge overall in the last 10 match-ups.
SCOUTING THE COLONELS
Nicholls State started the season on a six game losing skid with game four of the season being South Alabama. Also included in the season-opening losing streak was then-No. 15 Tennessee and then-No.2 LSU. Since then, the Colonels have taken series over Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, Houston Christian, and Lamar to bring the slow start to just over .500 both overall (19-18) and in the Southland (11-10). Nicholls finished its two-game midweek season series against SBC rival Southern Miss with a split. The program is most recently coming off a series victory vs. Lamar with victories on Friday and Saturday, but dropped the series finale. The Colonels will travel to the Lone Star state for a conference weekend set at Stephen F. Austin after visiting Mobile.
