South Alabama has set six new school records during the 2026 indoor season entering the Sun Belt Championships.

Presleigh Montalvo opened the season by breaking her own school record in the women's 60 meters, clocking a 7.44 at the South Alabama Invitational (Feb. 1).

Samuel Mika followed with a program-record 19.84m (65-1¼) toss in the men's weight throw at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. He finished fourth in a field featuring multiple Power Four competitors and currently owns the top mark in the Sun Belt in the event.

At the Vanderbilt Music City Challenge, the Jaguars broke four school records in one meet to close the regular season.

Charleen Elizondo set new program marks in both the women's mile (4:41.70) and 3000 meters (9:40.04).

Freshman Brady Keller ran a school-record 4:01.70 in the men's mile and later posted an 8:17.97 in the 3000 meters.

Redshirt freshman Jonathan Henderson cleared a school-record 2.16m (7-1) in the high jump to claim the event title, winning the competition by four inches.

In the men's pole vault, Will Frederick ranks second in the Sun Belt with a clearance of 5.32m, while Terek Logan sits third at 5.22m.

Kayden Engel currently ranks second in the conference in the high jump with a clearance of 2.16m.
About the Sun Belt Indoor Championships

Monday opens at 10 a.m. with the heptathlon and pentathlon finals, setting the tone for a packed day of field and track events. Field finals throughout the day include the women's and men's weight throw, long jump, and men's pole vault, while the track schedule features preliminary rounds in the mile, 60 meters, 60-meter hurdles, 400 meters, 800 meters, and 200 meters. The women's and men's 5,000-meter races and both distance medley relays close out the evening session.

Tuesday shifts focus to championship finals, beginning with the conclusion of the heptathlon at 10 a.m. Field event finals include high jump, shot put, triple jump, and pole vault. On the track, champions will be crowned in the mile, 60 meters, 60-meter hurdles, 400 meters, 800 meters, 200 meters, 3,000 meters, and both 4x400-meter relays. The meet concludes with the awards presentation at 5:10 p.m.
