Jaguar Track & Field set to compete at NCAA East Regionals

MOBILE, Ala. – Nine South Alabama track and field athletes are set to compete in the NCAA East First Rounds, scheduled for May 28–31 at Jax Track at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Jaguars No. 9-ranked javelin thrower in the region, Reuben Booysen, and freshman standout Jackson Laughlin will kick things off for the Jaguars in the javelin on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. CT. Freshmen Will Frederick and Terek Logan will follow in the men's pole vault at 4:30 p.m. CT. On the track, Jadon Thomason will open competition for South Alabama in the 110-meter hurdles at 6 p.m. CT, followed by No.9 Kendal White in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles at 7:20 p.m. CT.

Day two begins early with Iyana Johnson competing in the hammer throw at 9 a.m. CT. Ava Grace Wheaton will represent the Jaguars in the women's javelin at 2:30 p.m. CT. Thomason and White will look to punch their tickets to Eugene, Ore., in Friday's quarterfinals at 5:15 p.m. and 6:25 p.m. CT, respectively.

Flora Dupans will close out regional competition for South Alabama on Saturday, competing in the discus at 12 p.m. CT.

The top 12 finishers in each event will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Hayward Field in Eugene. South Alabama enters the postseason with a strong track record, having crowned individual national champions in two of the last three seasons. Francois Prinsloo won the discus title in 2025, while Kyle Rademeyer captured the pole vault crown in 2023 in Houston.

6:00 p.m. – 110-Meter Hurdles (First Round): Jadon Thomason
7:20 p.m. – 400-Meter Hurdles (First Round): Kendal White

Day 2 – Thursday, May 29
9:00 a.m. – Hammer Throw: Iyana Johnson
1:30 p.m. – Javelin: Ava Grace Wheaton

Day 3 – Friday, May 30
5:15 p.m. – 110-Meter Hurdles (Quarterfinal): Jadon Thomason
6:25 p.m. – 400-Meter Hurdles (Quarterfinal): Kendal White

Day 4 – Saturday, May 31
12:00 p.m. – Discus: Flora Dupans
