ROME, Ga. -- Jules Caby won his opening round match at the ITA Masters on Thursday before succumbing in the Round of 16 today.

The South Alabama sophomore got off to a strong start at the Rome Tennis Center yesterday, cruising to a 6-2, 6-4 win over Nikola Puntaric from UIC. That advanced Caby to the Round of 16 and a date with Pepperdine's Aleksa Pisaric.

Pisaric was ranked No. 5 in the pod Caby was slotted in and went on to win 6-0, 6-2. That put Pisaric into the quarterfinals against Mississippi State's Bryan Hernandez Cortes on Saturday.

Caby was the only Sun Belt Conference student-athlete selected to participate at the ITA Masters. Each conference had one representative, while six spots were left up to a lottery to determine the final participants.

The Jags will now turn their attention to the spring schedule, which will be released in the coming weeks.
