NEW ORLEANS – South Alabama Track & Field athletes Jordan Morrison and Samuel Mika earned Sun Belt Athlete of the Week honors on Wednesday following dominant performances at LSU, with Morrison named Track Athlete of the Week and Mika earning Field Athlete of the Week recognition.
Mika continued his strong start to the indoor season with a standout day in the throws. He claimed first place in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 17.66 meters (57-11.25), moving to second all-time in the South Alabama indoor record books. Mika also added a fourth-place finish in the weight throw at 18.67 meters (61-3.00).
The honor marks back-to-back weeks in which Mika has won an event and moved up to second all-time in the program's record books.
Morrison was named Track Athlete of the Week after capturing the 800 meters title with a blazing time of 1:54.20, the fastest time in the event at the meet.
