HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The South Alabama Track and Field team concluded a successful weekend at the Southern Miss Invitational, securing eight event wins, 30 top-five finishes, and seeing several athletes make their way up the program's record books.
Jackson Laughlin started things off for the Jaguars by winning the javelin with a throw of 64.24 meters (210-09) in the javelin to rank fifth all-time for South Alabama.
Samuel Mika and Iyana Johnson took first place in the hammer throw for the third straight week. Mika hurled a new personal best of 59.29 meters (194-06), and Johnson logged a season-best heave of 58.36 meters (191-06).
Jordan Morrison claimed his third win of the season and his first win in the 800 meters this year. Morrison blazed to a time of 1.53.51, out legging a competitor from Southern Miss by three-tenths of a second.
The Jags swept the pole vault. Freshman Will Frederick cleared 4.92 meters (16-1.75) to secure the win, while fellow rookie Terek Logan recorded a jump of 4.77 meters (15'7.75), earning second, and Carter Tinnerman took third with a late round of clearance of 4.77 meters (15-7.75).
In his collegiate debut, Freshman Jonathan Henderson etched his name into the Jaguar record books in the high jump with a jump of 2.03 meters (6-7.75) to clinch second place.
Flora Dupans secured two new personal bests in the discus and hammer throws. Dupans won the discus and secured the fourth farthest throw in program history with a career-best mark of 50.34 meters (165-02) before taking fourth in the hammer with a toss of 48.46 meters (159-0).
Dianna Goodman had another impressive day in the women's pole vault. One of two competitors in the event, Goodman earned a new personal record of 4.01 meters (13-1.75), becoming one of four women in South Alabama program history to clear four meters in the outdoor season. She now owns the No.4 mark in school history.
Mallory Norton placed third in the javelin with a toss of 40.37 meters (132-05).
Samantha Menikheim placed second in the women's 3000 meters with a blistering time of 11:01.54.
Raleigh Relays
Sacha Perrier clocked the third fastest time in program history in the men's 10,000 meters (28:59.11) Thursday night at the Raleigh Relays.

The Jags will stay on the road, traveling to Ole Miss to compete in the Joe Walker Invitational on April 4-5.
