MOBILE, Ala. - South Alabama (12-16, 2-7 SBC) is set to host the Georgia Southern Eagles (17-11, 5-4 SBC) in their second home conference series of the year.
The Jaguars went 1-2 against No. 13 Southern Miss, winning the Saturday matchup and falling in 12 innings on Sunday. In Tuesday's game against Southeastern Louisiana, the Jags' early lead was lost in the third inning, and a late home run from
Brennan Holt still left South two runs short in the 8-6 loss.Â

South Alabama is 20-16 in the all-time series against the Eagles, with the first meeting between the two programs taking place in 1987. of the 36 games, only seven were played before Southern's entrance to the Sun Belt. Since becoming conference mates, the series has been relatively even, with a 15-14 Jaguar record over GS. Georgia Southern has been more successful recently though, with a current six game win streak dating back to 2021 and has won the last three series' in 2023, 2022, and 2021.Â
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
5-4 in conference play, the Eagles were swept by #24 Coastal Carolina, swept App State, and is coming off a series win over Georgia State last weekend. Last time out, the Eagles came up just short against #6 Clemson in a neutral game held at SRP Park in North Augusta. Despite four errors, a rally in the ninth inning that saw four runs come across would be cut short, falling 10-8.
