ATLANTA, Ga. / AZUSA, Calif. – The South Alabama Jaguars capped off a packed week at both the Bryan Clay Invitational in California and the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta with standout performances, highlighted by an event win from Kendal White and six podium finishes.
Bryan Clay Invitational
- Charleen Elizondo kicked the week off by, finishing just shy of matching a program record in California. Elizondo posted a blistering time of 35:23.43 in the 10,000 meters which is the second fastest in program history.
Georgia Tech Invitational
- Kendal White shined again in the 400-meter hurdles, grabbing the only event win for South Alabama during the weekend with the third fastest time in school history with a PR of 50.78, just 0.17 of a second off the school record. His time ranks 21st nationally this season.
- Jadon Thomason and White both earned 10 finishes in the 110-meter hurdles. Thomason registered an eighth-place finish (14.15), and White came in right behind him in ninth (14.27).
- Over in the field events, Ava Grace Wheaton took second place in the javelin with a season-best throw of 43.94 meters (144-02), tying her best finish this season.
- Iyana Johnson led the way for the South in the hammer throw, hurling 58.55 meters (192-01) to clinch a spot on the podium in third place. Johnson followed up with another respectable performance on Day 2, finishing in sixth place in the triple jump with a leap of 11.87 meters (38-11.5).
- The Jags recorded two stellar performances in the pole vault. Freshman Will Frederick registered a sizable personal best for the Jaguar men, clearing 5.19 meters (17-0 ¼) to secure third place overall and the No.6 ranking in South Alabama pole vault history. On the women's side, Alexis Gratia picked up a season-best 3.85-meter (12-7.5) clearance to place third.
