DESTIN, Fla. – Juan Accossatto went undefeated in singles play to win first place among all players, and led South Alabama Men's Tennis to a team championship at the 2025 Battle at the Beach.
The Battle at the Beach championship puts an exclamation point on the fall season for the Jaguars as they now turn their focus to the spring season.
"What a great way to close the fall season," said South Alabama head coach Nick Brochu. "The Battle at the Beach was another clay court tournament, so we've been working hard at practice on being consistent, being patient and building a point, and I think it paid off. The highlight of the tournament was definitely Juan. He played in the number one spot and went undefeated, and won the individual award for the best player in the tournament. Quite the achievement. Two weeks ago he won the Birmingham tournament, then went to Destin extremely motivated to keep the streak alive. His play helped us win the team award. We also sent Harold, Adam and Deren, and they helped get some good wins for us. Last year we played well but finished second right behind Florida State, so this year the guys really wanted to take the title home. We made a push today and the guys finished strong to win. What a great way to end the fall semester."
