Remainder of South Alabama’s 2026 Schedule Revealed

MOBILE, Ala. | After announcing its participation at the NFCA Leadoff Classic during the opening weekend, the remainder of the 2026 South Alabama softball schedule was revealed Monday as it was announced by head coach Becky Clark.

As is the case every season, South Alabama will certainly be tested again this spring as the Jaguars are set to face seven NCAA Regional teams from a year ago, including three who advanced to the Super Regionals last season. Alabama, Florida State and Georgia were all one win away from reaching the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla., while Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State and Southeastern Louisiana each earned a berth in the national tournament.

"I feel like we have put together a very competitive schedule for our players and fans. Competitors want the challenge of an aggressive schedule and our fans love the opportunity to watch great softball. Plus, we added a third home tournament this year which will give our fans an additional chance to support our team at home. I think we have some quality games for our non-conference portion which will help bolster our strength of schedule and our conference slate is solid as well. Overall this is a schedule that gives us a chance to put up some great RPI numbers if we take care of business."

Highlighting the 29-game home slate are three different home tournaments, along with a home-and-home, midweek series with Auburn. The three home tournaments mark the first time since 2017 that the Jaguars have hosted three events.

As was announced last month, South Alabama will open the season at the 23rd Annual NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic presented by MAXBP, which will be held on February 5-8, where the Jaguars will face Eastern Kentucky, Southeastern Louisiana, Rutgers, North Carolina Central and Missouri.

The second-third week of the season will see the Jaguars play 11 games – 10 of which will be held at Jaguar Field – over a 10-day stretch. South will begin the busy stretch and open the weekend slate when it opens with the Mardi Gras Classic presented by Marriott Mobile (Feb. 13-15). The Jags will open the tournament on Friday, Feb. 13 with games against in-state foe UAB and Western Michigan. South will then take on Jacksonville State and WMU the following day, before closing out the tournament with another game against the Blazers. The meeting with the Broncos will be the first-ever between the two programs, while it will be the first time since 2017 that South Alabama has faced the Gamecocks.

South Alabama will then have back-to-back midweek games with the first at LSU (Feb. 17) and then host McNeese State (Feb. 18). Two-days later, the Jaguars will host the South Alabama Invitational (Feb. 20-22). The Jaguars will face West Georgia, Loyola-Chicago, Tennessee-Martin and North Alabama at the three-day event.

The following weekend, the Jaguars will head back out on the road to compete at the Bulldog Classic (Feb. 27-March 1). South will have a pair of games against both the host Bulldogs and UNC-Wilmington.

Week five sees the Jags return home for six-straight games, beginning with a midweek contest against Nicholls State (March 3). South Alabama will then host its third tournament of the spring with the Jaguar Classic (March 6-8). South will have a pair of games against both Mississippi State and Samford, and then a single game against New Mexico. The meeting with Samford will mark the first in the series since 2016, while it will be the first since 2014 against the Lobos.

The Jaguars will then head to Florida State for a midweek contest with the Seminoles on March 11, before opening Sun Belt Conference play the following weekend. South Alabama is also scheduled for a home-and-home series with Auburn with the first game against the Tigers in Mobile (March 17) and then the second in Auburn the following week on March 25. The home-and-home series between the two programs marks the second-straight season they have done so.

South Alabama will also travel to Alabama on April 7 for its final midweek outing of the spring.

Four of the Jags' eight Sun Belt Conference series will be at Jaguar Field this spring with the first coming during the opening weekend of league play versus Troy (March 13-15). This season will mark the first time since the Jaguars began the program in 2007 that the two in-state rivals have not met to close out the regular season.

In addition to the series versus the Trojans, South will also host three-game series versus Sun Belt members Texas State (April 2-4), Georgia State (April 10-12) and Louisiana (April 30-May 2).

USA is also scheduled to have league road series at ULM (March 20-22), at James Madison (March 27-29), at Marshall (April 17-19) and at Southern Miss (April 24-26). The trips to both Marshall and James Madison will be the first for the Jaguars.

This year's Sun Belt Conference Championship is scheduled to be hosted by Louisiana, May 6-9 at Lamson Park in Lafayette, La.

NCAA Regional (May 15-17) and NCAA Super Regional (May 21-24) rounds will be held on campus sites, while the Women's College World Series will take place on May 28-June 5 once again at USA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.

2026 Softball individual and season ticket information will be released at a later date.
