LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three South Alabama Track and Field athletes qualified for the 2024 NCAA National Championships this weekend at the NCAA East Regionals in Lexington.
Just one year removed from securing the 2023 NCAA National title in the pole vault, Kyle Rademeyer qualified for his fourth straight NCAA National Championships after tying for the event win with a clearance of 5.42 meters (17 '9.25") Friday night for the Jaguars.
Francois Prinsloo continued his historic tear through the 2024 season by claiming first place in the discus at the Prelims for the third time in his career. Prinsloo recorded a throw of 63.16 meters (207'3") to qualify for his third straight Nationals and beat the rest of his competitors by 4.65 centimeters. Sebastian Loschner finished just outside of the top 12 in the discus, placing 16th with a distance of 55.59 meters (182'4").
Dorian Curry closed the weekend for the Jaguars by launching to a clearance of 2.14 meters (7'¼") to secure 12th place in the high jump to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships. Curry finished three centimeters outside the top five as Riyon Rankin from Georgia took first place with a jump of 2.17 meters (7'1.5").
Three other Jaguars narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Jaguars. Kendal White finished 26th in his heat with a time of 52.11 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Ava Grace Wheaton placed 46th overall in the women's javelin with a throw of 39.13 meters (128'4").

The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held on June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore., on the campus of the University of Oregon. Rademeyer will compete in the pole vault final on June 5th, Curry will take part in the high jump on June 7th, and Prinsloo will wrap up competition at the Nationals in the discus on June 8th.
