Box Score MOBILE, Ala. - South Alabama, after giving up a six-run inning, was unable to string together enough to challenge ULM in the 7-4 loss.

USA struck first after the first two batters reached, with them advancing on a sacrifice bunt, then a single to the outfield by Micah Morgan scored Will Turner and Brenna Holt. 

South got into trouble on the mound in the fourth inning that was sparked by a two-run home run. Tyler Smith replaced Leif Moore on the mound, and was able to work out of the inning, but not without another four runs for the Warhawks. A one-run sixth inning extended the lead to five.

The bottom of the sixth gave some life to the Jaguars, with Turner and Holt again reaching safely, then were hit in by Lucas Ismaili. Bell sent another home, but was unable to form anything more out of the rally. 

South Worked two walks in the ninth but couldn't find paydirt late.

On the progression of the game: They didn't (do anything special). It was the fourth inning, it was the leadoff walk, the two run home run, it was the two walks in the fourth, and the two run home run sparked them. The fourth inning got us. They scored almost all of their runs in the fourth inning, and there's typically some walks in there, when teams score six runs in an inning. There's typically some walks, in some areas we played good defense. We gave them some walks, they got some timely hits, and we had a miscue out in right field where a ball dropped in. It's unfortunate, but we didn't play well enough to win today. We didn't pitch well enough, we didn't hit well enough, we didn't get enough guys on, and we didn't touch home plate enough. So that's how it goes.
