MOBILE, Ala. -Â The Jaguars rally in the eighth with six runs to stun the Warhawks in a 6-2 series opening victory.
Jaguar pitching threw a commanding game, helmed by
Cam Hill's 6.0 innings, striking out three batters, allowing only three hits, and no runs on an efficient 67 pitches.
Jaxon Shineflew took over in the seventh, and after an out and a rough few batters, ended the inning with back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning. Shineflew then went on to allow only one hit the next inning.Â
The Jaguar offense turned on, with a leadoff single to kickstart the run, with four singles in a row that was only broken up by a walk. The final run was scored off a balk for the six-run inning.Â
Gant Starling entered in the ninth, allowing one hit, but striking out the next three batters he saw.Â
Winning Pitcher:Â
Jaxon Shineflew (2-0)
Losing Pitcher:Â Brandon Brewer (1-1)

On
Cam Hill and the bullpen's performance:Â He went six innings, three hits, and no earned runs. Yes, I absolutely did (get what I wanted from Hill). And what was the decision to bring in Shineflew? Because that's what we've done. Cam wasn't happy about coming out, and I almost left him in, but I just felt a different look. They had a fresh guy out there. It would have been their third time seeing him, the lineup seeing him three times-not that he can't do that, but that's kind of our formula for success. Not that it needs to be that way every Friday night, but the splits say that they hit righties better than lefties and Shineflew has been the lefty we've been using the last couple of weeks in behind him, with some of those same scenarios. And Shineflew was okay, he's been sharper. You and I have both seen him sharper. He was okay. He bent but he didn't break. That pick into center field that we didn't get, it wasn't a good throw from him and our infielder should have blocked it, should have kept the ball in front. So it started to get a little bit sideways but our guys hung in there. We had Shineflew up in case Cam got into a jam, so he was ready, and I told Brad (Phillips), "Now that he's ready, let's just bring him in." So that was the thought behind that.
