AUBURN, Ala. – Francois Prinsloo and Xaiver Johnson secured event wins, and five other Jaguars set new personal records for South Alabama Track and Field Saturday evening at Auburn's Tiger Track Classic. With 11 events remaining, the meet did get canceled due to inclement weather.
In the Field
Prinsloo breezed through his competitors once again. He won the discus for the fifth time this season with a toss of 59.84 meters (196'4") and still owns the No.2 ranked discus mark in the nation. Sebastian Loscher finished right behind Prinsloo in third place with a toss of 52.44 meters (172'0").
Bodine Degli-Umberti picked up her fifth Top-3 finish in the hammer throw this year. Degli-Umberti took second place with a hurl of 56.92 meters (186'9").
In the triple jump, Iyana Johnson had a strong outing, leaping to second place with a personal best jump of 12.58 meters (41 '3.25"). Johnson now owns the No.4 ranking in the all-time South Alabama record books.
Alexis Gratia posted another dominant mark in the women's pole vault. Gratia snagged her third finish in the Top five of this season, taking fourth place with a clearance of 3.83 meters (12 '6.75").
Caleb Mabins reeled in his third Top-three finish of the season in the triple jump, placing third with a mark of 15.09 meters (49'6.25").
Tashod Wingfield placed fifth in the long jump with a season-best leap of 6.61 meters (21 '8.25").
On the Track
In the 1,500 meters, Xavier Johnson set a new personal record and picked up his first event win of the outdoor season with a time of 3:51.00. Johnson now owns the seventh-fastest time in the South Alabama record books. Sacha Perrier followed closely behind, finishing in second place with a time of 3:51.64.
The Jaguar distance team continued to dominate in the men's 5,000 meters as Amos Pkemoi finished in second place with a season-best time of 14:48.13.
Tia Acker delivered a personal record in the women's 400 meters, blazing to a time of 55.25 to take third place overall. Javon Glenn followed suit in the men's 400 meters, setting a new personal record time of 47.68 to take fourth place.
Abbey Weitenbeck secured a new season-best time of 4:52.38 to place sixth in the women's 1500 meters. Kate Miller set a new personal best time of 4:55.79 to take ninth place.
Grace Wolf, Tia Acker, Allie Germann, and Jamie Willis blistered to a new season-best time of 47.07 in the women's 4x100 Meter Relay.
