Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – The South Alabama Men's Tennis season came to a close Friday after a heartbreaking, 4-3, defeat to Louisiana at the Sun Belt Tournament.
The Jaguars finished the season with an overall record of 9-11 for the year.
South got off to a momentous start in doubles play as the team used some clutch performances to take the first point of the match.
Jack Clements and
Braden Hannig continued their first-team all-conference form with a 7-5 victory, and then it was up to Rostislav Halfinger and
Javier Montoya. The pair found themselves down 6-5 and faced multiple match points, but fought them off to force a tiebreak. Then, after falling behind in the tiebreak, the duo rallied to win the tiebreak 7-5 and secure the doubles point for the Jags.
In singles play, Hannig continued his moment to secure a 7-6, 6-2 victory, and true freshman Harold van Raemdonck came from behind to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. The Jags needed just one more point to close out the match, but Louisiana proved to be too much in the other four singles matches, and the Ragin' Cajuns took home the victory, 4-3.
