The Jags enter Saturday's match with an 8-10 overall record and a 3-4 mark in conference play. Coastal's record is similar at 8-11 overall and 2-4 against Sun Belt Conference competition. South and Coastal have met four times previously in series history, with the Jags claiming all four of those matches. The two schools last met a season ago in South Carolina where USA claimed a 5-2 victory.
Prior to Saturday's match, South Alabama will honor senior
Jack Clements for all his contributions to the program.
Clements is in his third season with the program after transferring from Cowley Community College. Originally from Inverloch, Australia, Clements has accumulated 33 doubles victories and 27 singles victories during his time with the Jaguars. In 2023, he advanced to the round of 32 at the NCAA Tournament while climbing to a doubles ranking of 69. After the 2022 season, Clements also cracked the top-20 of doubles rankings at the number 16 pairing in the country.
Clements was the 2022 Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year while earning second team singles honors and first-team doubles honors that season. In 2023, he again earned first team all-conference recognition in doubles play. Clements also earned Sun Belt Player of the Week honors this season after helping the Jags secure a key victory over UNC Wilmington.
