Prinsloo Highlights Strong Split Meet Weekend for the Jags in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas/ RALEIGH, N.C. — Francois Prinsloo and Sebastian Loschner recorded top performances in the men's discus at the 96th Clyde LittlefieldTexas Relays as the South Alabama Track and Field team closed a stellar road weekend against some of the top competitors in the country Saturday evening. 

 Texas Relays

On day three of the weekend, Prinsloo and Loschner had dominant performances. Prinsloo launched a season-best throw of 64.41 meters (211 feet 4 inches) to take first place and secure the Jaguar's only event win on the weekend. 

Sebastian Loschner followed suit in the discus, setting a personal record with a throw of 58.03 meters (190 feet 4 inches) to earn sixth place in the competition.

Kendal White headlined Day two in the 110-meter hurdles final, blistering to a personal best time of 14.24 to secure ninth place overall. White now holds the seventh-fastest time in the South Alabama record books. He also ran a time of 52.87 in the 400-meter hurdles to place 20th overall. 

In the men's high jump, Dorian Curry flew into 10th place in the section B final with a jump of 2.11 meters (6 feet 11 inches). 

Bodine Degli-Umberti had a strong outing in the women's discus, placing ninth with a throw of 49.25 meters (161 feet 7 inches). Degli-Umberti also grabbed an 11th-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 55.13 meters (180 feet 10 inches). 

Grace Wolf clocked a time of 1:00.93 to earn 25th place overall in the women's 400-meter hurdles. 

During day one, Ava Grace Wheaton secured her second top-five finish this outdoor season in the women's javelin, hurling a throw of 43.99 meters (144 feet 4 inches) to take fourth place overall in the B section. 

Sebastian Reyneke recorded a 15th-place finish in the decathlon. Reyneke logged his best finish in the shot put portion of the decathlon, placing third overall off a top throw of 14.57 meters (47 feet 9.5 inches). 

Raleigh Relays 

Two other distance athletes competed at the NC State Raleigh Relays on Thursday, Feb. 27. 

Sacha Perrier set a new personal record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 13:58.99 to take 52nd place out of a field of 220 runners. Perrier now holds the eighth-fastest time in the all-time South Alabama record books. 

Xavier Johnson posted a time of 29:21.62 in the 10,000 meters to secure 53rd place out of a field of 110 runners.

South Alabama Track and Field will head to Tuscaloosa to compete in the Crimson Classic hosted by Alabama on Friday, April 5 through Saturday, April 6.
