Box Score TROY, Ala. – South Alabama men's tennis fell to in-state rival Troy, 4-1, Saturday afternoon.
The defeat dropped the Jaguars' record to 7-9 for the season with a 2-3 tally in Sun Belt Conference play.
"Tough loss, but it was a good battle," said head coach Nick Brochu. "Troy played very well. Obviousy we are very disappointed, but the guys fought hard. At the end of the day as a coach, you just ask your guys to play hard. We all realize that we can play better. I'm not saying we played bad, but we all know we can play better."
After dropping the doubles point, South Alabama moved on to singles to secure enough points to win the match.
Juan Accossatto provided the Jags with their lone victory on the day by defeating Yeray Andres Pastor 6-1, 6-2. Several other Jaguars came close, but could not finish their matches with wins.
South Alabama will continue its road swing with matches at Georgia State and Georgia Southern next week.
